Not what was advertised
The figures moved on big motorized devices with rubber wheels, and there was no attempt to conceal this aspect. Smaller figures were controlled by actors inside, with their legs visible. The ads gave the impression that the figures would be realistic and frightening. A child in the audience pointed out that the figures had visible legs, indicating they were not scary. During intermission, the child's mother asked if he was scared, to which he replied NO.
